    These are challenging times. Families are faced with unusual financial challenges. Every donation — no matter the size — plays an important role in supporting the church and its work. Generosity is about more than money. Giving consistently, even in small amounts, is a reflection of your faith and ongoing commitment to your spiritual journey.

    To help you through these challenging times, in 2026 you will be able to deduct your charitable donations from your Federal tax return, even if you do not itemize your deductions,. The deduction is $1,000 ($83/month) for single tax payers and $2,000 ($167/month) if you file joint.

Reading Icons - Free Workshop

For over 1,500 years this was how people read scriptures

This interactive presentation lets you step out of time, learn how to “read” icons and raise funds for your organization.

It all starts with:

  • The board — the Tree of Life — the cross — our return to Paradise.
  • The Linen — the veil between heaven and earth — the shroud of Christ.
  • The Gesso — quiet, emptiness purity, possibility, the source of all colors, the void that existed before creation, the readiness of the soul to accept mystical inscription.

And that is just the beginning.

There is so much more to a traditional Byzantine icon. Every color, hand jester, and facial expression. Everything in the icon is part of the story. It is the story of creation, the incarnation of Jesus, the Spirit of God manifest in His creation. It is your story.

We want to share that story with you. This is an interactive and absorbing opportunity for you and your club to step out of time and experience a glimpse of that which is outside time and space. The infinite, the heavenly, that which is “seen and unseen” (The Nicene Creed).

We are part of the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church, the Ancient Faith. But this is not a denominational workshop. This is scripture told in color and form. In wood and paint. For nearly two thousand years, few people could read. This was how they “read” the scriptures.

The presentation can be modified to fit in your time frame. It is usually 30 to 45 minutes but can be extended to be sure everyone’s questions are answered. Not only do you learn the history and how to “read” there images, but you will actually read some yourself and share it with your friends.
